"The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is
to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to
expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
WHAT IS UNITED METHODIST WOMEN?
UMW is the group of women in each congregation organized for mission. UMW has existed under many different names since 1869.
Churches have merged, but all titles have reflected the church into mission partnership with God. Because the United Methodist
Church is a connectional church, local units of UMW relate directly to district and conference organizations of UMW and the Women’s
Program Division of the General Board of Global Ministries.
WHO ARE THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN?

We are women like you…women of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds; employed, not employed; housewives; businesswomen;
single, married, divorced, young, middle–aged, and older women. We are women committed to mission.
Annually, the New Hope United Methodist Women give more than $5,200 to support The UM Children’s Home, Missions, Hospitality
House, Bethlehem Center Camp Mission, Upper Room, UMW worldwide, NH UMC Health and Welfare, gifts in honor, memory, candle burning,
etc. The undesignated giving of the United Methodist Women touches the lives of many persons around the world. The total program of
UMW is mission––including mission education, spiritual growth, outreach, and action.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN MONTHLY MEETING
The UMW have their regular meeting, in the Church Fellowship Hall, each month on the Monday after the first Sunday at 7 p.m.
We invite you to be a member of United Methodist Women of New Hope United Methodist Church. Joining this group of committed women
is a unique opportunity - no matter who you are or where you are in your life at this moment- to move in harmony with other women who
have been responding to God's work.
On Sunday, December 11, 2011 Jenny Eure, UMW Treasurer presented Pastor Ed Rutenkroger, OSL with a Special Recognition Pin and certificate
from the United Methodist Women. The award was presented to Pastor Ed for his exemplary service in helping the community, mission work in
Liberia, and for his many contributions to other ministries in the church as well as contributions that have benefitted women, children, and youth.
One of the ways United Methodist Women (UMW) support missions is through the purchase of Special Mission Recognition Award Pins. It is also
an opportunity for the United Methodist Women of New Hope United Methodist Church to honor special persons who have distinguished themselves
in advancing the purpose of United Methodist Women. Award recipients do not need to be members of United Methodist Women.
Each year in December the UMW honor an individual during church services. All money for Special Mission Recognition Pins goes directly to
missions.
