We believe that Outreach is an essential part of our faith and, therefore, among one of the most important activities at New Hope UMC.
John Wesley believed that Christians could not have authentic personal holiness without social holiness. He said, "I look upon all the
world as my parish" and "do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the
times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can."
John Wesley not only preached about works of mercy, he "practiced" what he preached. For example, he lived modestly and gave all he could
to people who were poor; visited people in prison and provided spiritual guidance, food and clothing to them; spoke out against slavery
and forbade it in Methodism; founded schools; published books, pamphlets and magazines for the education and spiritual edification of
people; taught and wrote about good health and even dispensed medicines from his chapels.
The Outreach Ministry of New Hope United Methodist Church go where they are needed. The Ministry
visits shut-ins, hospitals, and nursing homes. The Outreach Ministry Team in the picture below is visiting a nursing home. The Outreach
Team visits eight nursing homes in the area each month.

You can "go" to church, or you can "be" the church. Outreach Ministries is a great way to "be
" the church and experience God’s presence.
