Missions is an exciting area of ministry at our church. We know that God not only wants to minister to us, He also wants to
minister through us. Here at New Hope United Methodist Church, we are answering God's call by reaching out both locally and
internationally. Our primary goal is to bring the name of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him and to demonstrate His love,
compassion and saving grace.
Mission Teams provide oversight and planning for ministry in the community and
beyond. The congregation reaches out in dozens of ways to its neighbors in New Hope, the Carolinas and all over the world. From
the
Food Pantry Ministry; Blood Drives; Meals on Wheels;
Prayer Shawl Ministry; to other special
events we seek to be the hands and feet of God in so many ways. There is a place for all to serve.
Missions reminds us that the church is not just a building. Jesus did not stay in one place and missions doesn’t either.
No matter what your skills are, you are needed. Whether you have an hour and are a electrician, or you have a week and you are a
"people person", missions will fill your heart and your mind. That’s how it changes people, by showing them how
God can use them as they were created. You don’t have to become someone else, just be everything that God created you to be.

Pastor Ed Rutenkroger’s Journey to Liberia–2011
Submitted by:Pat Murphy, NHUMC
As a part of the
Love
for Liberia missional emphasis, Pastor Ed Rutenkroger traveled to Liberia with a volunteer–in–mission work team
from the North Carolina Annual Conference on July 23 through August 6, 2011.
The work was multi–varied and allowed participants to have a range of experiences helping the people at Ganta Station in Nimba County,
Liberia. Pastor Ed was responsible for helping Liberian teachers conduct a summer day camp enrichment program for both the junior and senior
high divisions. The camp concentrated on math, English, general science, biology, chemistry, and physics. Pastor Ed also offered teacher training as well.
The most important work for Pastor Ed was to—
formulate relationships with the Liberian people. To do this he had to be flexible and work hard.
Pastor Ed along with the other volunteers team members also discovered what it means to be a partner in missions...have a willing
heart and desire to let the Holy Spirit teach them about the sharing of love through word and deed.

American Red Cross Blood Drives
New Hope UMC hosts a blood drive once every two months. Did you know that only 38% of people in America are eligible to donate
blood and of those only 8% actually do. That amounts to only 3 out or every 100 people. Your donation makes a difference! For every
pint of blood that you donate it can save up to 3 lives.
Our Covenant Missionary Relationship

Love For Liberia –What of the Children?
Ponderings of a Nail–Bender
When Jesus spoke of the children, he must have had Liberia in mind. Everywhere, in
